Extracting an Audio from any video File over Macintosh

Extracting an Audio from any video File over Macintosh

Did you ever want to extract an audio file from any video over your Macintosh and import it into iTunes or burn it in your CD? Fortunately there are a number of ways to accomplish this task over your Macintosh.

Just say that you are a parent who had just taken home your child’s musical performance or else you are an average person who loves a certain clip from a funny movie. In either case you wish to excerpt only the audio file. In fact there are several ways through which you can do this. But over here we are going to concentrate only on two methods. The first method is of employing the Lion’s QuickTime player and the second method is by employing a third party application known as MPEG Streamclip.

Extracting audio through QuickTime Player

Let us assume that you are running the new OS X 10.7 Lion. The QuickTime Player of this version is the latest and therefore it should get the job one at the soonest possible time. However, you will require downloading the Perian- a third party application which is used to make the QuickTime player compatible to play any type of video files. If the Perian is not downloaded then it will play only certain types of files.

Let’s get started. First open the file through QuickTime player and then if you wishing to extract all the clip of the video then move onto the 3rd step. If you want to extract the audio clip from only part of the video then use the trim feature of QuickTime. To use the trim feature go the Edit and from there select the trim. These trim features will allow you to edit the video by just moving the yellow mark.

Now go to the file and from there select ‘Export audio File’. Save the file and give it a name.

Extracting the Audio Clip using the third party Application MPEG Streamclip

This is a third party application that makes the process real simple. This application allows better control over the conversion by considering the bit rate etc. If you download this application in your Macintosh once then the whole process is easier.

After installing the application launch it. You can either drag the video into the window or open it by importing it through opening the files.

Just as same as the option in QuickTime you have the option to trim the video from wherever you like. Move the indicator towards from where you would like the video to start and end. Later, go to the Edit option and from there select In.  Afterwards move the indicator to where you wish the audio clip to be the end and over there place the out selection from the indicator. Finally trim the menu so that you can extract the audio clip exactly from the same mark where you had placed the indicator.

This is the last step. Now go to File and from there choose the option ‘Export audio’. After that you will be asked about various formats of the audio clip for example you will be asked for AIFF, MP4 AAC, and MP2. You will also be asked about the bit rate you wish the audio to be run. Just choose any value you like and then hit the button Go. Finally you have extracted the Audio clip which you had wished for.

Macintosh is so easy and this is the main reson why we should love Macintosh.
